The Director, Recruiting Operations leads the people and resources responsible for talent acquisition at BECU. In this role, you will lead the execution of recruiting strategies that deliver current talent needs as well as development and engagement of core talent pipelines for near- and mid-term strategic initiatives.  In partnership with recruiting managers, the Director, Recruiting Operations will lead a data-first approach to developing and evolving key performance indicators to inform & advise HR leaders and the Recruiting team on recruiting performance.  This role acts as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, develops relationships with hiring managers, and ensures a great hiring experience for all candidates.

As the leader of the Recruiting team, you play a key part in helping BECU continue to build a culture of belonging and inclusion through ensuring we are always seeking ways to make our sourcing, assessment, and hiring processes more equitable and inclusive.

This role is remote eligible from WA, OR, ID, AZ, TX, GA, and SC.


  • Perform all responsibilities in accordance with BECU Competencies and Information Protection requirements.
  • Lead and develop the team's core skills of business acumen, long term candidate nurturing, client management and continuous iterative improvement, to ensure we deliver a consistent high-quality experience for candidates and hiring teams.
  • Assess and lead selection/implementation of innovative talent acquisition tools, processes, technology, and methodologies that enable BECU to quickly find and hire top diverse talent
  • Optimize recruiting tools and practices, to ensure compliance, consistency, and integrity while ensuring the ability to scale to the organization’s talent needs.
  • Create an environment of inclusion and trust by developing, coaching, and providing transparent communication for the Recruiting team. Keep a pulse on organizational strategic priorities and goals and translate them into business objectives that provide clear vision and alignment for the team.
  • Partner with leaders internally to execute BECU’s employment brand and messaging through all Recruiting-owned channels
  • Identify, develop, and evolve recruitment metrics/KPI’s, utilizing dashboards to track performance and inform business planning
  • Build strong partnerships with HR, Finance, and Business Unit leaders to assess workforce plans and hiring forecasts to deliver the right talent when and where it’s needed.
  • Lead the team in the development of recruiting strategies with respect to sourcing, referral, selection methods and reference checking for internal and external candidate processes.
  • Develop and submit for approval an annual budget for the Recruiting function.  Manage expenditures to ensure budget guidelines are met and exceptions are approved.
  • Work collaboratively with the Recruiting team to provide continuous learning opportunities to leaders on how to hire quality talent at pace.
  • Lead the development and of campus recruiting funnels that deliver a diverse pool of qualified high potential talent through strategies, tools, or other methodologies
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Human Resources, or equivalent work or educational experience required. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years full cycle recruiting experience for all levels of positions within an organization.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience leading teams, specifically managing a recruiting function, required.
  • Experience with a variety of sourcing techniques and high volume recruiting preferred.
  • Excellent conceptual, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to ensure personnel/member related issues are handled in a fair, consistent manner.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement projects in a timely manner.
  • Effective leadership and negotiation skills.
  • Full-time hours required, with additional hours as necessary.
