PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $250,000.00-$300,000.00 annually. The full Pay Range is $200,000.00 - $350,000.00 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE:

As the Vice President (VP) of Technology, you will lead BECU’s engineering organization, driving our continued migration to a DevOps environment. Your role involves partnering with senior leaders to foster innovative processes and develop new technologies, services, and systems. Your critical eye will spot opportunities and address challenges, ensuring the engineering team thrives across multiple disciplines. You’ll manage and develop effective teams at all levels, making a significant impact on our technological landscape.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Shape Long-Term Strategies: Develop and oversee long-range digital technology strategies and oversee the development of business initiatives that align with BECU’s strategic objectives.
  • Lead DevOps Teams: Manage high-functioning DevOps/Engineering teams in continuous delivery environments to support business outcomes.
  • Enhance Innovation: Improve engineering and innovation processes to foster the development of new technologies, services, and systems.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with senior leaders and various teams to define and execute the company’s technical vision, strategy, and roadmap.
  • Implement Cloud Architectures: Manage Cloud architectures using DevOps/Agile methodologies.
  • Drive Agile Success: Oversee teams in applying Agile principles to achieve successful completion of business initiatives.
  • Recruit Top Talent: Recruit and develop highly skilled engineers and leaders who fit into BECU’s engineering and product culture.
  • Promote Efficiency: Ensure the efficiency of Engineering teams through effective organizational management, innovative engineering tools, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead Technology Solutions: Head a team of managers and individual contributors delivering timely, business-aligned technology solutions.
  • Support Team Growth: Offer ongoing coaching, mentoring, and training, conducting performance evaluations, and providing feedback to encourage staff development.
  • Guide Technical Vision: Provide direction and coaching to direct reports to clearly understand their roles in implementing BECU’s visions, missions, and strategic priorities. Use understanding of IT initiatives in annual plan (timing, magnitude, priority, etc.) to ensure new/unplanned initiatives have complete financial plans including infrastructure costs.
  • Participate in Governance: Engage in IT and business unit governance, planning, and review committees and meetings.
  • Adapt and Perform: Take on additional duties as assigned, contributing to BECU’s evolving needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field.
  • Minimum 10+ years in a software engineering people leadership role
  • Experience with vendor and custom applications/solutions.
  • Experience with large-scale project implementations.
  • This job is remote or hybrid but requires you to reside in one of the following states: Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Arizona, Texas, Georgia, South Carolina. Ability to travel approximately 25%, mainly to headquarters in Tukwila, WA

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree
  • Fiserv DNA integration experience
  • Financial services experience
  • Experience with API integrations, Operation Data Store (ODS) and rules engine
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong planning and budgeting skills for both short-term and long-term planning
  • Effective leadership and negotiation skills
