PAY RANGE
The Target Pay Range for this position is $26.35-$32.12 hourly. The full Pay Range is $21.65-$38.03 hourly. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE:
Step into a role where your attention to detail and problem-solving skills directly support the financial well-being of our members. As a Deposit and Payment Processing Specialist, you play a key role in ensuring the smooth, accurate, and compliant movement of funds across multiple payment channels. From wires and ACH transactions to check processing and settlements, your work keeps critical systems running seamlessly.
You’ll be at the heart of daily operations—balancing accounts, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring every transaction is handled with precision. Your expertise helps maintain trust, accuracy, and efficiency, while your curiosity and commitment to learning ensure you stay ahead of evolving payment systems and regulations. Please Note: This role will require flexibility to rotate schedules throughout the year including a closing shift until 8:00 PM. This role while onsite will have at times a hybrid schedule based on business needs.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Ensure Accurate Processing: You’ll process ACH transactions, wire transfers, checks, and deposits, making sure everything is completed accurately and within Federal Reserve and NACHA timelines.
Manage Daily Settlements: You’ll balance and reconcile accounts, ensuring all transactions are correctly posted to general ledger (GL) and member accounts.
Handle Wires with Precision: You’ll retrieve, monitor, and post incoming and outgoing wires daily, ensuring proper crediting and debiting of accounts.
Resolve Discrepancies: You’ll investigate and resolve internal and external transaction issues, using your analytical skills to identify and correct discrepancies.
Support Payment Operations: You’ll operate image scanners and process check and remittance documents across various workflows.
Collaborate with Financial Institutions: You’ll maintain communication regarding cash letters, return letters, and transaction statuses to ensure seamless operations.
Deliver Member Support: You’ll respond to member inquiries in a timely and professional manner, researching and resolving exception transactions or out-of-balance conditions.
Maintain Compliance & Security: You’ll ensure all processes meet regulatory, compliance, and information protection requirements while maintaining organized and secure records.
Apply Industry Knowledge: You’ll leverage your understanding of Federal Reserve, NACHA, and electronic funds transfer regulations to ensure compliance in all processes.
Support Continuous Improvement: You’ll stay informed on policies, procedures, and industry regulations while contributing to operational efficiency.
Provide Documentation & Approvals: You’ll prepare supporting documentation and obtain leadership approval for adjustment and charge-off items.
Take on Additional Responsibilities: You’ll support team success by taking on other duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum two years of experience in a financial institution with operational experience such as data entry, item processing, reconciliation, fraud identification or related experience required.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate in the English language.
- Full-time hours required, with additional hours as necessary.
Desired Qualifications:
- Minimum one year of experience processing , check adjustments, preferred.
- Continuing education, including courses and seminars pertaining to ACH and check clearing processes and regulations preferred.
- Organizational skills.
- PC and 10 key skills with the ability to learn new software.
- Analytical, research and problem solving skills.
- Ability to perform multiple responsibilities with a high degree of accuracy.
