PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $35.38-$43.22 hourly. The full Pay Range is $27.50-$51.11 hourly. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

SUMMARY

The Loss Management Lead is responsible for leading the Loss Management Specialist team by collecting and analyzing production reports and data, monitoring operational metrics, and managing the loss management pipeline.  This role is responsible for ensuring the Loss Management Specialists are aware of team service level standards, loss management policy and guidelines, and generating associated team level production performance data. The Loss Management Lead ensures that all processes are performed in an accurate, professional, and efficient manner to ensure a high level of quality services are being provided to the membership.

Please note: This role is remote eligible for the following states - Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Arizona, Texas, Georgia, and South Carolina.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Perform all responsibilities in accordance with BECU Competencies, compliance, regulatory and Information Protection requirements.
  • Perform all responsibilities associated with the Loss Management Specialist positions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate services by providing coaching, direction, and effective monitoring of performance metrics.
  • Manage daily operations within assigned areas of responsibility including workflow and dialer queue volumes. React appropriately to ensure internal and external members are assisted in a timely manner within established service and quality objectives. 
  • Represent the department internally and externally on projects associated with areas of responsibility within the department.
  • Use judgement to handle escalated calls of various complexity and work with staff to ensure that member concerns are resolved promptly and courteously. Partner with management for responding to and implementing employee and member suggestions that align with the BECU strategic guidance.
  • Assist the Compliance team in auditing and monitoring call volumes, impacts and personnel activities.
  • Participate in planning with the Loss Management Managers and Director on the development and administration of job standards as requested.
  • Ensure that written procedures are documented for all functions within area of responsibility and update as necessary.
  • Assist in the administration of approved budget to include planning and responding to variances in partnership with department leadership.
  • Participate in department initiatives or projects as identified by the manager and/or director providing timely updates and communication to appropriate audiences as needed.
  • Conduct monthly account reviews and ongoing coaching, mentoring and training of staff to develop and encourage team performance.
  • Act as mentor and coach to assigned team members.
  • Perform additional duties assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • Minimum five years of functional experience in collections or similar work experience required.
  • Minimum three years of experience in late-stage delinquency collections and handling escalations required.
  • Previous demonstrated experience with real estate foreclosures and legal collections preferred.
  • Worked at financial institution preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with real estate foreclosures and legal collections preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching, training, and mentoring junior staff preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to collections required.
  • Proficient knowledge of all systems applicable to collections required.
  • Proficient verbal and written skills to effectively communicate required.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks by prioritizing job responsibilities required.
  • Effective leadership and negotiation skills preferred.
  • Additional hours as necessary.
